Find the YouTube advertising traffic source
- Open YouTube Studio and click Content
- Select the promoted video and open Analytics
- Go to the Reach tab
- Scroll to “Traffic source types” and look for “YouTube advertising”
That row shows the views that came from the ad campaign. Click “See more” for a full table with watch time per source.
Compare before and after
Use the date selector to compare the period before the campaign with the campaign period. Look at total views, average view duration and subscribers gained. A good campaign often lifts other traffic sources too, like browse features and suggested videos.
What the numbers mean
- YouTube advertising: views from the paid campaign
- Browse features and suggested videos: YouTube recommending the video afterwards
- YouTube search: people finding it by searching
- Playlists and external: other places people watched
Why views can update with a delay
YouTube processes view counts and analytics over time, so the numbers can lag by a day or two. Check the final numbers a few days after a campaign ends.
Start with 1,000 real views for $10, verifiable in YouTube Studio.
